What I’ve Learned

I did learn about Marriott’s current promotion of double elite nights plus a bonus 1000 points. Then I spent an hour really contemplating booking my husband’s business travel on Marriott. The problem with me is I’m a “want it all” kind of person. When I’m on trips, I want to do all the tourist things you’re supposed to do. In my 20s (that are soon ending), I wanted to party, travel, have kids, have a 9-5 corporate job, a work for myself job, a don’t work at all mom (that lasted a week). I want to experience anything and everything… at least once. So now that I’m on a journey to get top tier elite status for Hyatt, I find myself also looking at Marriott. But I reminded myself of the first goal, Globalist Status at Park Hyatt New York. Plus the endless Hyatt stays I’ve already mentally planned for next year. And for those, I need points, which means I need to keep the stays with Hyatt.
I did hear about the Bilt/point.me hack which I’ll have to try. Basically ypu can download one free app, then have free access to use another site with useful information, helping to book flights from milultiple airlines with points. I still haven’t figured out how I’ll fly to Europe so I may need to “pay someone else” instead of stressing myself. I’ve read it only works with Bilt partners though and the point.me daily rate isn’t bad even if I do purchase to test some dates.
What I’ve Planned
The last week’s focus has been on rough draft planning my Guatemala trip. Just like I said above, I want to do everything as if I’ll never get the chance to come back again. But I’m now trying to stay with the mindset that I will return especially with my kids. I still made plans to stay in 4 different accommodations but at least I decided the activities.
I’m also thinking I may want to change my goal of Globalist by New York to achieving it by New Orleans. By the end of this week, my husband will be at 17 elite Nighy but there’s plenty of travel and CC spend to be done by then. I just really want to avoid paying for valet parking there.
Besides Guatemala, the next non-booked trip I have plan is Spring Break in Maui with the kids. Currently all the Hyatt points are going to Maui, I need about 125,000 and we are currently at 9000. But it’s still the beginning of the year before so I’m not worried.
What I’ve Booked
Absolutely nothing. Now I remember why I did not commit on Instagram to making these posts every week.
